This is a standing invitation: If you want to talk about any topic that appears on my bio page, I want to talk to you. If you want to talk about anything else, ask! This invitation's scope includes but is not limited to:
- mitigating catastrophic biological risks
- increasing global pandemic preparedness
- effective altruism
- market design / econ research
- quantitative trading / Jane Street (unofficially)
- teaching in highly-technical contexts
- living abroad for Americans
- Harvard courses
- making art with cellular automata...
I like getting email. Some people don't, but I do -- and I have never, not once, regretted getting email from a student, aspiring EA, or person interested in any of the above. There are some topics that I'm not comfortable talking about over email, but if you ask about one of them I'll say that and I promise I won't think less of you for asking.
I especially like reading things! If you write something worth reading, I'd be very happy for you to tell me. The worst thing that has happened -- or will happen -- is that I don't read it.
My email address is all over this site, and my Twitter handle is @ _rossry with a leading underscore. Even in cases where I'm excited to connect over a video call, I prefer to do introductions and set expectations over email first.
Hat tip to Patrick McKenzie for inspiring this form of invitation.
